Amritsar Book Fair 2022 commenced on March 5, 2022

Amritsar Book Fair 2022, organized in association with Khalsa College in Amritsar, was inaugurated on March 5th, 2022 by the Honourable Governor of Punjab Shri Banwarilal Purohit. Mr. Yujraj Malik, Director of NBT also showed his presence there at the time of inauguration. 

“Books are the treasure-trove of knowledge and we must make them an integral part of our life,” said the Governor of Punjab at the nine-day-long Literary Festival and Book Fair. He said books open new vistas in our lives and to make it more meaningful and successful in a real sense we need to befriend books. Further in his address speech, he said that in the journey of development that started with the independence of the country, NBT has been working towards making every section of the society knowledgeable and aware. 


More than 100 publishers have set up 102 stalls of books of varied nature. The exhibition is being organized at the College in collaboration with the National Book Trust (NBT), the wing of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. 

Dr. Atma Singh Randhawa, Chairman Punjabi Department in his welcome address thanked NBT for continuing its association with Khalsa College in organizing the Amritsar Book Fair. He said in this digital age, book fairs are mandatory events to emphasize the importance of books and establish a reading culture.

Yuvraj Malik said that the motive to organize the event was to highlight the significance of books in our lives and connect the youth with literature. He said books of all kinds and various languages will be available at the festivals that will culminate on March 13. He expected a large number of visitors during the festivals as books will be available at heavy discounts.
